Starting this Wednesday, Uber plans to launch a new ground transportation service in select markets which will allow travelers the option to book a cheaper car service using hybrid vehicles.  The new car service will be available in both San Francisco and New York starting later this week.

The New York Times reports that Uber hybrid vehicles will cost 10 to 25 percent more than using a taxicab.  In comparison, Uber’s black town car service which offers travelers more room and luxury is priced at a premium of 40 to 100 percent.
