Temporary DC Taxi Fuel Surcharge to Expire

The District Of Columbia Taxicab Commission (DCTC) has recently announced that the temporary fuel surcharge for DC taxis is scheduled to expire on June 20, 2012.  The extra $1.00 fee per trip will not be extended.

Implementation of the DC Taxi Fuel Surcharge

  • The fuel surcharge was first implemented from 3.3.11 to 7.26.11.  The cost of regular gasoline was $3.45 per gallon on it’s starting date.
  • 1st Extension: 7.27.11 to 11.17.11 (Cost of Gas: $3.70).
  • 2nd Extension: 11.18.11 to 3.5.12 (Cost of Gas: $3.47).
  • 3rd Extension: 3.6.12 to 6.20.12 (Cost of Gas: $3.85).

As of 6.15.12, the cost of regular gasoline was $3.58.  AAA of the Mid Atlantic Region is projecting the cost of regular gasoline to drop to $3.50 per gallon during the summer period.
