The Maryland Board of Public Works has recently awarded an exclusive airport taxi contract to BWI Taxi to provide on-demand taxi service from the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The contract is scheduled for a five-year term and is expected to generate more than $12 million dollars in revenue to the state.
BWI Taxi Management Inc has held the concession at BWI Marshall for about the last 15 years. Over the last four years, the taxicab company had received multiple one-year extensions. Last year, BWI Taxi proposed to pay $6M for a four year contract.
Six propsals were received for the new Request for Proposal (RFP) and 2 companies failed to complete the application process.
