FOX5 Investigation: Revisits Las Vegas Taxis Long-Hauling from McCarran Airport

by admin on February 16, 2012

A recent undercover investigation by FOX5 demonstrates that Las Vegas taxis continue to long-haul travelers going from McCarran International Airport to the strip.  Long-hauling occurs when a taxicab driver takes a passenger on a longer route than necessarywhich adds several dollars to the fare.

  • Nevada taxicab drivers which take the Airport Connector tunnel to the strip with out the prior consent of the passenger will result in a longer route than necessary.
  • Charles Harvey, the new administrator of the Taxicab Authority previously stated that one of his top priorities will be to address long-hauling by Las Vegas taxicab drivers.
  • In 2011, the Taxicab Authority which regulates Nevada taxi companies received approximately 1,100 long-hauling complaints.
