by admin on September 1, 2011

The new Chief Administrator for the Nevada Taxicab Authority which regulates Las Vegas taxi companies, recently stated one of his top priorities will be to address long-hauling by Las Vegas taxicab drivers.  The practice of long-hauling is illegal and results in drivers taking a longer route that adds several dollars to the taxicab fare.

A former cab company supervisor alleges that it’s vigorously encouraged by some Las Vegas taxi companies.

According to an I-Team investigation, several control officers were ordered to stop writing citations for long-hauling.

Charles Harvey, the new administrator is proposing to require Las Vegas taxis to display approximate rate information inside taxicab vehicles.
