City Issues New RFP for Exclusive Salt Lake City Taxi Contract

Salt Lake City recently issued a new Request for Proposal (RFP) for the exclusive taxi service contract including walk-up taxi service from the Salt Lake City Intl Airport.  A previous RFP was cancelled by the city in April.

Commencement of the RFP is scheduled to begin on or after October 1, 2011.

Permits for the city’s existing taxi companies including City Cab, Ute Cab and Yellow Cab are scheduled to expire on September 10, 2011.

RFP Schedule for the Salt Lake City Taxi Contract
-  Issue Date: May 23, 2011
-  Preproposal Meeting: June 7, 2011 at 2:00PM
-  Proposal Deadline: June 30, 2011 at 2:00PM
-  Commencement: October 1, 2011

According to the RFP, the city will award between 2 to 4 exclusive taxi service contracts.  Companies will be authorized to operate 50 to 150 Salt Lake City taxis in the first year.  The contract is scheduled to expire in 5 years on September 30, 2016.

Contracts will be awarded based on a weighted scale
-  Quality of Vehicles: 15%
-  Quality of Drivers: 15%
-  Plan of Operations: 20%
-  Previous Experience: 20%
-  Minimum Annual Guarantee Amount: 20%
-  Financial Performance and References: 10%
