Court Order Delays New Taxi Contract At Sea-Tac Airport

by transreviews on August 2, 2010

A court order in effect since February 2010 continued to delay and prevent the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport from signing a new exclusive airport taxi contract to Yellow Cab (Puget Sound Dispatch). The airport taxi contract was awarded in December 2009 and is scheduled to start on September 1, 2010.

STITA Taxi and Farwest Taxi (Rainier Dispatch), two competing Seattle taxi companies, filed separate lawsuits against the Seattle Airport regarding a Request For Proposal (RFP) which resulted in awarding Yellow Cab a five year exclusive contract to provide walk-up taxi service from the Seattle Airport.  STITA Taxi filed multiple lawsuits which included an allegation that the Port of Seattle which managed the RFQ, violated the state’s Open Public Meetings Act.

Farwest Taxi, filed a lawsuit against both the Port of Seattle and Yellow Cab of Seattle.  Yellow Cab, was a formal partner in a joint bid that was submitted as a separate RFQ to the Port of Seattle.  The lawsuit requests a court order to ban the Port of Seattle from signing an exclusive taxi contract with Yellow Cab of Seattle and seeks to disqualify Yellow Cab from future re-bids for the airport taxi contract with Sea-Tac Airport.
