Visum Transportation, a Phoenix taxi service provider, recently withdrew from a contract with the PHX Airport to provide walk-up taxi services. The Phoenix Airport awarded taxi service contracts to Visum Transportation, Apache Taxi, and AAA Cab. The contracts were awarded to the highest bidders of a Request For Proposal to provide taxi services from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The PHX Airport received bids for on-demand taxi services from the following Phoenix taxi service companies:

Employee Owned Transportation LLC – $14,444.44
Transtyle Inc – $14,100.00
All Star Trans LLC – $13,690.00

Allstate Cab Company, VIP Taxi – $13,120.00
Discount Cab – $11,305.00
New Sonrise Transportation Co. LLC – $11,111.11
Monarch Cab – $8,120.00
Super Taxi – $7,120.00
Courtesy Cab – $6,300.00
Mechelle Vakilzadeh – $5,555.00
Classic Yellow Cab – $4,611.00
Visum Transportation withdrew from the taxi contract amid a dispute among competing Phoenix taxi service companies who claimed that Visum Transportation and Apache Taxi are start-up taxi service companies and have no previous track record with the state of Arizona.
For the past 9 years both Discount Cab, Allstate Cab Company, and AAA Cab paid the city of Phoenix only $200 (two hundred dollars) per vehicle to provide on-demand taxi services from the PHX Airport. Both Discount Cab and Allstate Cab Company contracts to provide taxi services expired in early 2010 and was not renewed by the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. AAA Cab contract was renewed by the city and agreed to pay $16,061 per vehicle.
According to the city of Phoenix, any taxi company who fails to meet contractual obligations or withdraws from the contract process will be replaced by the next highest bidder. Mayflower Cab Company was the 4th highest bidder agreeing to pay $15,053.00 per vehicle to provide on-demand taxi services from the PHX Airport. Mayflower Cab Company LLC is also a relatively new taxi company operating in Phoenix and was incorporated by the state of Arizona in 07/17/2008.
