Phoenix Awards PHX Taxi Service Contracts

The City of Phoenix, who owns and operates PHX Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, recently awarded new taxi contracts for Phoenix taxi services at the PHX Airport. Ground transportation services including taxi, limousine, and shuttle services are operated within a “Closed System” at the PHX Sky Harbor International Airport. Phoenix taxi service companies are required to submit bids to the PHX Airport in order to provide on-demand Phoenix taxi services.

Phoenix Taxi Service Companies Awarded PHX Taxi Service Contracts

The following Phoenix taxi service companies were awarded PHX taxi contracts based on the highest bids and will take effect on Feb. 1, 2010:

AAA Cab 480-888-8888 Authorized to operate 140 Phoenix taxis
Apache Taxi 480-557-7000 Authorized to operate 20 Phoenix taxis
Visum Transportation Authorized to operate 20 Phoenix taxis

Discount Cab, the 2nd largest taxi service company within the state of Arizona, and Allstate Cab Company contracts both expired to provide on-demand Phoenix Airport taxi service at PHX Airport. Both PHX taxi service companies lost their bid to Apache Taxi and Visum Transportation who are start-up taxi service companies and have no previous track record with the state of Arizona.
