Illegal Ground Transportation Carriers in Georgia

by admin on December 16, 2009

Transportation Reviews, the leading advocate for travelers seeking US passenger ground transportation promotes safe transportation.  A recent charter bus accident in Atlanta, Georgia illustrates the growing problem of ground transportation companies who operate illegally and are not licensed to operate.

On October 31,2009, a charter bus carrying 42 Morehouse College band members to a football game in Albany overturned on interstate 75 in Atlanta, injuring many students.  The charter bus company, Superior Transportation Group Inc of Atlanta, Georgia was operating the charter bus illegally without a license.

The Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) regulates Georgia ground transportation companies including shuttle, limousine and charter bus companies within the state of Georgia.  Prior to this charter bus accident, the GPSC received a public complaint regarding Superior Transportation Group Inc who was operating without a license. On 2/19/2009, the GPSC delivered a Cease and Desist order by certified mail to Superior Transportation Group Inc.

Travelers should always verify a companies permit status before reserving ground transportation services. The GPSC website provides a list of limousine, shuttle and charter bus companies who are licensed to provide intrastate ground transportation services within the state of Georgia.
